This issue is extra special because it's a Sponsored Issue! Thank you!

Distraction achieved.

It's been a sad week for Matt and myself. Holly, our corgi, took a turn for the worse last week. According to the oncologist, the cancer cells had become resistant to the chemotherapy. With her refusing to eat, in pain, and her chance of recovery very slim... Matt and I made the difficult decision to let her go. She passed on midday Tuesday. She was a sweet girl and we miss her.

If Matt and I seem a little distant for a bit, please excuse us. Thanks guys.

Its tough having to give up a loved one, canine or otherwise... At least she is no longer in pain. Best wishes.
As painful a decision as it is, they have to be made. My condolences, I've been through it myself. Boofers will be waiting for her at the Slobber Inn to welcome her and buy the first round.
\\hugs// Hoping that the memories of the love you shared with her sustain you.
Didn't really expect a comic this week, so thanks for another great page. I just want to echo everyone else's condolences. Seems like Tiny's missing Holly as well.
She'll be waiting for you at The Rainbow Bridge.
So sorry to hear of your loss... we lost Flint our 13 year old Shetland Sheepdog to cancer last month, so I can appreciate what you and Matt are going through right now. *offers hugs*

I was surprised to see the page too. This is probably the most difficult decision anyone with a pet needs to make. From what Holly was going through, it was time. You and Matt did everything you could for her, including this. I'm sorry.
So sorry for your loss. It never gets any easier saying goodbye.
You are likely already doing this I'm sure but if not, maybe go dig out the photos and remember the good times, it helps me 'freshen' the old memories and soften the pain of the present... As for today's strip, Hunter, you know your adversary well.. may Part's hooves step surely.
*hugs* So sorry to hear that. My thoughts are with you and Matt.

I've been reading for a very long time, I even recommend this to anyone I hear looking for a good web comic to read. First, thank you for doing this and giving so many of us the entertainment and enjoyment this provides. Second, my thoughts and wishes to you for your loss. If I may be as so bold, perhaps Holly could be remembered, for a long time. Give her a role in your comic, immortalize her for as long as we continue to read your beautiful and powerful creation you call a web comic. Once more allow me to say thank you for what you do for us all.
I'm so sorry for your loss. She was definitely a well-loved girl.

Deep condolences for your loss. We've shared our lives, and their ends, with two corgis and one sheltie, and our current corgi at age 14 is approaching the Rainbow Bridge's abutment. (Which he'll mark, of course; that's his job!) The greater the love, the deeper the pain of loss. Time, and future loving, can ease but not erase that. Treasure both the memories and the tears.

Hugs and condolences, bob
Condolences on your loss. Its one of the hardest, yet kindest things you do as a pet owner. The pain fades; the love remains.
I'm so sorry. Please, take your time recuperating - we can wait for your sakes.

Oh no, my deepest condolences, I know how you feel as I lost a very loved one too, my first collie, lassie, she was the dearest heart of our family. Can't think of her as it makes me tear up. And do take your time recuperating.
You have my sympathies. I had to put a cat down because of a tumor and another one because of diabetes. It hurts. No doubt about it. I totally understand the pain of doing that!
Thanks guys. Matt and I appreciate it. She was a loud little goofball and now the house seems so quiet. Especially the mornings. She was so happy and bouncy in the morning. I had this page about half-finished before Monday, so felt I should push to get it up if I could. AYAD unfortunately wasn't started before this hit. We'll continue on with that next week.
Here's an old video of Holly when she was a puppy. We don't have many pictures or any video of her when she was older - she hated cameras for some reason.

I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your pet. Best wishes.
I am sincerely sorry for your loss. I'm sure that Holly would tell you, "Thanks, guys..., I had a great time!"
My condolences. I lost a pet recently too: my cat Butterscotch. She passed away two weeks ago. I still miss her. She lived a long, full life, though (she was 20 at the time of her passing), and, out of all the pets we've had that have passed away, she's the only one that died of old age.
You and Matt have my deepest condolences at this time. The loss of a loved one is a weight on the soul.
sorry to hear of your loss.
Sometimes life is offering up something vastly more dear then what an amount can measure. Surviving a farm of animals has taught me this, Matt and Darc. Celebrating the joy and Holly's life is the refund check.
Condolences. Passing is a sad side of a world that grows, I wouldn't trade it, but still. Mind, good memories can be kept. And others, respects to the world, need not be. Confidence in sentience may be confidence that pain does not last. That we learn and choose. So yeah, be as solemn as you would want. Do what you want, and respects to the world, may it feel well.
I'd like to add my condolences to the pile. Take as much time as you need. If you even want to take a break from the comic, we will absolutely understand.

Darc, thanks for the absolutely adorable video of Holly, she was such a cutie. Reminds me of when I was staying at Two Rivers Inn in ND when I was working there in Jamestown ND. The innkeepers had a really cute and fun Corgi named bull that I loved playing with everyday after work. He also loved cooked spaghetti & any macaroni I would cook for dinner. I'd put some in his bowl, without any sauce or butter and he just ate it up. He was so much fun to watch run as he hopped around the hotel outside and in too. really fell in love with him. he was black and brown a very pretty color combination. Best wishes.
