Issue 2 - Page 09

This issue is extra special because it's a Sponsored Issue! Thank you!

It's okay, Roderick. Jack just wants to be friends. You know, hang out, grab a couple of beers, maybe go bowling on Friday nights... that sort of thing.

All done! Thanks for sticking with me through the TOS delay! I really appreciate it!

If you see a mistype, please drop us an email. We're more likely to see your message and correct the mistake faster that way. Thank you.

This is a pleasantly unexpected outcome. Although Jack casually throwing dice with Greer was a pretty big giveaway. Still, I love the reactions and your ability to convey so much emotion simply though facial expression.
Darc
Thank you! I try, especially with these more dialog heavy scenes.

I get that the fool is a title but still there is the semantic noise floating about. Also, love the fact the Winter feels Spooky would be a good friend for Jack.
Darc
Yes, it's a little odd, but there is a reason. And everyone needs a friend. After all, who else is going to help you hide the bodies of your enemies? I guess you can call on relatives... but that might make family reunions a little awkward.
Kaeto
Especially when the bodies might have been relatives.
Ladyfox7oaks
Yes, Especially then...
Parou
Heh, this is going to be interesting. These two are both important to their lieges and initially seem very different... and very sceptical... it will be curious to see whether they find common ground to build a friendship on.
Paoru
Also, it is good to see the development stages of the pages... always enjoy seeing the creation process.
Darc
Awesome! Thanks! :D

Well Jack, now you mention it. I'm not the one playing dice with Greer. This is shaping up to be a Spooky origin story...
Darc
You guys want info on the Fey. You're getting it.

Roderick: "So, exactly how do you propose we get this bro-mance started?" Jack: "I thought we'd do a raid on Puck's home and give him a swirly." Roderick: "I'm game. Let's go."
Ladyfox7oaks
YES! I so want to see that now... (Maybe as a one off special if it doesn't - y'know- actually FIT the storyline?)
Petrov Neutrino
Wow! This is an interesting turn. When I saw the initial sketches, I expected Spooky to be the table stakes! Very nice work!
Darc
Thanks! On the clock Jack's a homicidal killer with no remorse. Off the clock, he's a decent guy. (Boy that sounds weird.) *laughs*
Bunners
From an old Cosby routine (from when he was still funny) "Now, compare combs. Mines is orange, yours is green. Let's go get us some womens." Bunners
Darc
At the end of the night, both Roderick and Jack have struck out. Greer, meanwhile, has a date lined up everyday for the next two weeks.

I love it when you post a half-done page. It really lets us see how much work you put into drawing. Panel 4 is going to be lovely, with all the background. Panel 5, I can't wait to see how you play with blue/white to get the 'frost' on the dice.
Darc
Thank you! Ooo, I can't wait to start laying down the colors. I haven't been able to start the inks just yet. The sketch tightened me right back up again. At least these big flareups don't happen too often now. :D
Sulnim
The colors are everything I'd hoped. :) I love how you played with shadow in the cave, and accented Frost's horns. The frosted dice are perfect!

"Unlike that knave,Puck,I do not act with my queen's consent." Queen: You need a friend. Go out and make one. That mortal, Spooky, will do. Oh, and if you need to use the lavatory, do so.
web_MST3K
I meant "without my queen's consent!" Damn, I just blew a good joke with a typo.
Darc
"Should I wash my hands after, ma'am?" "Yes, Jack, for cripes sake, wash your hands!"
ignesfatuis
Oh jeez, that could be a comic all it's own! The expression on Spooky's face is hilarious!
reynard61
Do it, Roderic. You don't have to be drinking buddies, but you could both be valuable allies to each other. (And who knows? Maybe you can teach Jack to warm up and mellow out just a bit toward non-Fae.)
catsidhe
So cute! ''Do you see another fool here?'' proof you don't need to be able to lie to master sarcasm. On second thought, idea of sarcastic fae scares me. Winter...wants Jack to have...friends? For some reason, I'm afraid of what Winter considers friendship. Reminds me of Changeling the Lost's True fae's perspective on that word.
Iron Ed
"Friendship is Magic, Jack! Maybe later we can sit around a campfire and sing 'Winter Wrap-Up'!"
Krimsonnekros
I wonder who else took fool to mean something other than idiot. Personally I'm thinking Jack is calling Spooky the wild card in this game.
